Stabat Mater Dolorosa, 2016
Stabat Mater Dolorosa is a catalogue of 60 drawings dedicated to the Medieval poem of the same name. This poem deals with themes of suffering, particularly that of the Virgin Mary at the Cross of Christ. As an atheïst artist, the aim was to find the innate beauty in this poem and relate to it creatively. The Stabat Mater Dolorosa has long been such a source of inspiration, mainly for classical composers such as Pergolesi and Dvorak, who all composed their own Stabat Maters. The drawings in this book are accompanied by three texts relating to the Stabat Mater, written by Sophie Sexon, Rachel Boyd and Katja Brunner.
